A Year to Remember!

When you walk into a retail store and hear Nat King Cole singing “chestnuts roasting on an open fire”, you know that it is getting close to the most wonderful time of the year. It also means that another year is coming to a close. Looking back at 2010, I stand in amazement.

2010 started off with one of the greatest adventures of my life. Photographing the African continent brought forth a number of emotions. Gratitude, sadness and empathy are the obvious ones that you may think of. If you have been following my adventures, you know that a few life changing moments happened in a very short time. My life came close to an abrupt end in a rafting accident on the Zambezi river. When you stare death in the eye and watch him turn his back on you, your life changes forever. Fear, helplessness and worry are emotions I can live without, but they also stir something deep inside of you. Love, inspiration and faith are born from the depths of despair. You realize very quickly what is important and what is not. As with me, a near death experience can be responsible for making you come alive.

As the year progressed, I realized that it was going to be hard to top the first few months. Surprisingly, it only got better! I shot three beautiful destination weddings in locations all over the globe and I have also shot some of my most beautiful weddings to date here in Toronto and the surrounding area. I am getting very close to my 100th wedding with Boston Avenue. I have to say, my co-workers and boss at the Boston Avenue studio are the main reason I am so passionate about my profession. The support and encouragement that they have provided me with have been my inspiration and I wish everyone was as fortunate as I am to have such a great group of people to spend their working hours with.

On a lighter note… This year, my website traffic has hit levels that I could not imagine! This year I have had 3,208 unique visitors from 59 countries (thank you Google Analytics!). I have visitors from Haiti, Bangladesh, Oman, Slovakia, Pakistan, Argentina and many others.
