If you watch the news, you know how cruel and ugly our world can be, but once in a while, you hear a story that warms your heart so much that it makes you actually believe in destiny.
Kathy and George met in Greece while she was on holiday with friends. Out of all of the places on Earth she could have traveled to that summer and all of the people she could have met, she met this one single man. I am a firm believer in fate and that there is a plan for every single one of us. Kathy was supposed to meet this man that summer… and they were supposed to fall in love.
Love is the most powerful force in the entire universe. It binds people, heals wounds, and even heals souls.
George was born and raised in Greece. He went to school, started a career, had loads of friends and had a wonderful European life. When he met his “needle in a haystack”, it was not long until he dropped everything to start a new life with his wife-to-be here in Toronto. He literally uprooted himself and left his whole life behind to start a new one on the other side of the planet… For love.
Their wedding was just a few weeks ago, and the event that stood out most in my mind was George’s speech. As someone who has heard literally hundreds of wedding speeches, I thought I had heard it all. George’s words that night almost had me breaking down. It was half in Greek and half in English, but it was completely from the heart.
When you hear a story that is this heartwarming, it makes you believe that the whole world just got a little nicer.
Congrats Kathy and George!
